CUTANEOUS CALCIFICATIONS

Dystrophic calcification is the most common type of
calcinosis cutis and is associated with a variety of disorders: collagen
vascular diseases, panniculitis, porphyria cutanea tarda, Ehlers-Danlos s.,
Werner's s., pseudoxanthoma elasticum, Rothmund-Thompson s., cutaneous neoplasms,
infections, trauma. This is a cutaneous calcification in CREST syndrome.
Videomicroscopy allows to see in vivo the concentric structure of the
calcification.
